Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh – Yashwant Singh Parmar (1952-1977)

Yashwant Singh Parmar was the First Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh from 1952 to 1977.Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, established in 1985 in Solan is named after him.A statue of Parmar was established in Simla Mall commemorating his contributions to Himachal Pradesh.He died on 2 May 1981.

Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh – Thakur Ram Lal (1977, 1980-1983)

Thakur Ram Lal was the Second Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh from 1977 & 1980 to 1983.He was an Indian politician and a leader of the Indian National Congress in Himachal Pradesh.He was born in a family of Rajput caste.He was elected to the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha from Jubbal Kotkhai constituency in 1957. Later, he was re-elected to the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha from the same constituency in 1962, 1967, 1977, 1980 and 1982.He served as Governor of Andhra Pradesh from 15 August 1983 to 29 August 1984.He died in Shimla following a massive cardiac arrest on 6 July 2002.

Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh – Shanta Kumar (1977-1980, 1990-1992)

Shanta Kumar was the Third Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was elected to the 9th Lok Sabha from Kangra constituency in 1989. He was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 1998, 1999 and 2014 from the same constituency. He has written a number of books. His political career began in 1963 when he was elected as a Panch in the Gram Panchayat for Garhjamula. He was subsequently elected as a member of the Panchayat Samiti in Bhawarna and then was president of Zilla Parishad in Kangra from 1965 to 1970.He was elected to the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1972. He remained a member till 1985.

Virbhadra Singh was the Fourth Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh.The longest-serving and 4th Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, he served as the Chief Minister from 2012 to 2017 before being replaced by BJP’s Jai Ram Thakur in December 2017.He previously served as Chief Minister from 1983 to 1990, from 1993 to 1998 and from 2003 to 2007. Prem Kumar Dhumal was the Fifth Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh.He is an Indian politician and was the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Chief Ministerial candidate for the 2017 Himachal Assembly Election, in which he lost his seat. He previously served twice as Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, from March 1998 to March 2003 and again from 1 January 2008 to 25 December 2012.He became vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in 1982. In 1984, he was selected as the candidate for the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency when the sitting Member of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (MLA).

Jai Ram Thakur was the Sixth Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh.He was elected the BJP legislative party leader on 24 December 2017 after the defeat of Chief Ministerial candidate of BJP, Prem Kumar Dhumal in the assembly elections held in November 2017. He is a 5th time MLA in Himachal Pradesh Assembly winning continuously since 1998 and has previously served as a Cabinet Minister in the BJP Government of Himachal Pradesh. He was the Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj from 2009-2012. He is elected to Himachal Pradesh Assembly from Seraj Assembly constituency of Mandi district.
